November Extras

As a final post for November I have peen playing around again with generating High Dynamic Range (HDR)  images.
This is a post production process which blends two or more images of exactly the same subject taken at different exposures. The resulting blended HDR image forces a greater range of tones than exist in a single exposure, into the 256 tonal steps of a standard 8bit image.  The results can range from unnoticeable to the very extreme. I generally use unnoticeable, but these images move a bit more towards the extreme.

London in Winter sun

I had a shoot in London this morning. Intending to drive to London I ended up with my car parked at Bexley station and me on the train, as South East London was gridlocked due to an accident last night that closed the Blackwall tunnel.
Anyway I managed to meet my client on time get the job shot and then have a walk up to the Southbank. By then the sun had come out and I was able to shoot some images in a low winter sun.

Green and Yellow Smoke

This will be my 100th Post to this blog since the restart. The images are similar to yesterday, but with a different set of filters.

Joss Stick Smoke

I did some images with smoke from a Joss Stick some time ago. Today as the sun had gone by the time I finished work I revisited the idea, this time with some colour added to the lights.

Ifield Church

It is only 24 days until the winter solstice, so a 3 pm finish gives very little daylight for photography. Today I went out to the church at Ifield. The light had gone as a bank of cloud rolled in just after 3.30. Still I found this image. i like the cold blue tones especially.

Igtham

Had an early visit today to the Igtham ponds. This will possibly be the last visit for some time as I am starting to repeat images I have already made. When winter starts to bite the ponds will freeze which will give some different images.

Christmas Lights

Not a landscape or a nature image today.  I had been waiting for a while for the time to get the lights in town, today I made the time.

Red and Yellow

Busy day today so this image is from a few days ago. What caught my eye was the colour and the light.

Isle of Grain

Going out to the Isle of Grain is a bit like a trip to the ends of the earth!

But did find a couple of nice images and a location for a revisit in morning light.

Ok this will the last night for awhile that I will be using the clam shell as a prop. This time I found a stone in my collection that would look good.

Studio Shells

I have been looking at the clam shell as a background for another shell for some time. I also converted the images to B&W, it seems to work.

Igtham Again

I am continually pulled towards the old fishponds at Igtham, and my visit today proved productive in the way of image production.

The storms of the past few days have now striped the trees of almost all their leaves. So my hopes of getting the pond covered in fallen leaves has not happened this year. As this was the image I had in my mind when I went out. I needed to move out from the ponds to find some other locations. As the leaves are gone and the bracken has died down I found a wonderful birch log in an advanced state of decay. This log will be revisited over the next few weeks.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
