Pocahontas

It was 400 years since Pocahontas died and was buried in Gravesend.

Yesterday was a parade to commemorate the date.

Grain Tower

Even though we have lived in this area for over 30 years, there are still times we find somewhere  close by that we have never visited. This weekend we were at Grain and had no idea there was a long promenade running for a mile or so around the village.

The view is not great as it is mostly Sheereness across the river, but  I did find a nice shot of the Grain Tower fort, an old fort in the river.

40 years on!

In early March I had a quick trip to Scotland for a family visit and on my trip home I found myself with some time to kill in Glasgow, between a car return and a train trip.

On my way to return the car I found myself driving on the Bothwell street off ramp from the M8. This got me thinking about a picture I had taken while at college.

For many years there was a footbridge across the M8 that was unfinished. The west side was built but it stopped and the east side was never completed. In the 70's you could walk up onto the bridge an look down over the motorway. Later it was all fenced off. In the 90's they finally got around to completing the bridge.

Anyway I found my way back onto the bridge and got the image I wanted and the two images show the changes to the skyline in that part of the city.

February. Where did it go?

Well it looks as though February has gone missing from my life and as far as new images goes it is true, February has been a bit of a desert, but for what goes on behind the scenes with my photography I am coming to the end of a very productive spell.

I decided I needed to catch up with my Alamy submissions. First I needed to sort out my quality control. I was having far too many submissions rejected, A closer eye for detail and dust and not trying to push images that were taken at the limits of the capabilities of my cameras. Getting this sorted has meant that I have had no rejected submissions since last October. At that point I had about 3500 images uploaded, as of now I have 5000 images online with another 150 still to upload.

I have worked my way back through all my collections until I got back to the point I had finished submitting in 2010.

All the images are keywords and captioned and they have been examined at 100% in Photoshop and all dust removed.

With the Key wording I have set up Lightroom so that it working the way I want with all my keywords sorted to make the process quick and easy.

So although there is little in the way of new images lots of work has been accomplished.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
