Christmas in North Wales

The first of a couple of posts of images taken in North Wales.

This was the view I awoke to on Christmas morning.

Snow!

Its been some time since I had the time to make some images.

We are now at the end of the second day of one of the worst snow storms for years. Yesterday I did not have to travel, but today I did my commute by train for the first time ever. It may seem slightly perverse in light of the weather conditions, but as I was only travelling a couple of stops I reckoned I would be OK. As things worked out it was a very easy trip. and with a brisk walk at either end I arrived feeling rather 'humid' in all my weather gear.

London

There have not been many chances to get out with a camera over the past few weeks, but this weekend I had a trip up to London. Lunch at Borough Market, a wander along the thames to the London Eye via the Tate Modern.

Olympic Park

After a job today at Old Ford in East London, I had a bit of time to wander around the edge of the new Olympic Park. Already it looks more finished that the Commonwealth Games site in India last month.
Unfortunately I had to make a quick exit as the rain was just starting.

End of Trip roundup

After leaving Edinburgh and the joy of WiFi, it has been Two days since I could log on. The weather has been very dull and overcast apart from monday PM. All a bit disappointing as afar as getting the wonderful colours of Autumn is concerned. In the end I have managed to get some interesting images just not the ones I was looking for.

20.10 10.10.2010

Colour and black and white.

While in Edinburgh the light has been very overcast, so many of the images I was hoping to get were not worth shooting. What I have done is found and a made a couple of images that are similar in look, but are created in very different ways.

The image with the red geraniums is a creation of Photoshop. I just selected the red colour inverted the image and reduced the saturation to create a splash of colour in a B&W image.

The second shot is an 'as found'. The leaf was sitting on a black tombstone.

So two images similar look but different ways of getting the final result.

10.10 on 10.10.10

I had hoped to be somewhere interesting at 10.10am on 10/10/10, but in the end I was on a bus travelling into Edinburgh.

Ploughing Match

I must admit that I am a bit of a sucker for tractors. My first word was "tractor" and since then I have been hooked.

This year the local farmers had their 160th ploughing match out on the fields near Cliffe. I got some interesting shots although the wind was a bit cold.

Post Production

I came across a nifty little website that lets you apply tilt and shift effects to preexisting images.

Wakehurst Place

It was a warm sunny early autumn day today. We had a trip to the Kew Gardens in the country at Wakehurst Place. After a walk around part of the grounds we had a slow drive back and then out again for the moon shot. It's also the Autumn equinox so from now the nights are longer than the day.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
