At the weekend we were over in Surrey. Towards evening I went out to Frensham ponds for the sunset.

Kingsnorth
There was a great looking cloud hanging over Kingsnorth power station in Sunday. The image looked good in colour but I decided to convert it to Black and White, which makes it a much stronger image.

The Red Lightship
I had a little time for some photography today. With the sun out and the first warm day of the year, I set out down to the Medway towns. It had been a long time since I had been there and many changes had occurred. Mainly new housing around the docks at Gillingham. I took the turn down to Gillingham pier. Here I found a great red lightship. Lightship 21 .

Moonlight
I also did a HDR version from my moonlit images last week. The moon has come out as a white disc as I was using a single image HDR.

THe Stars were out.
While I was away in Scotland there was a full moon. This gave me a chance to do some night shots, lit only by moonlight. I have tried this in the past at home but there is far too much light pollution when I have tried.
The night I was out there was a high thin cloud floating about, not enough to spoil the shot but it did reflect the lights of Greenock at times. Most of my exposures are in the region of two to three minutes @ f8 iso 200.

Scott's View
Travelling back from Edinburgh today, I took a route through the Scottish borders. Near Dryburgh Abbey I passed a sign to Scott's View. I remember visiting here many years ago with my parents. It was only two miles from my route and even though the weather was not great I took a run up to the view point.

Museum of Scotland
After travelling over to Edinburgh I had a chance to look around the Museum of Scotland. The newly refurbished halls are very well done.

Inveraray
It was very misty today, The drive up Loch Lomond side gave very little in the way of views. The mist lifted on the way up Rest and Be Thankful and by the time we reached Loch Fyne the mist was hanging in bands across the hillside and clinging to the trees.

End of a Road
I had a day out exploring today. Over the years I have been to most places in the area around Loch Lomond except for Inversnaid, and as this was at the end of a 16mile dead end I had yo tick it off my list.
It is nothing special just a pier and a hotel. nearby I found a car park and a walk to 'Rob Roy's View'. the walk was through forests and so not much to see. But the view at the end was special. One of the best panoramas of Loch Lomond I have found. Sadly the weather was not good, so HDR was used.

After I was going to drive the dukes pass but it was closed, so I came back via Lake of Montieth.

Knapps Loch
When I get back to the village I try and get to visit a few old haunts. This morning I was out at the Knapps, a loch just outside of the village. I have been walking around here all my life and my very first picture was taken here.
This morning it was freezing fog, so the images were studies of tones rather than broad sweeping views.

Traveling to Scotland
I have driven to Scotland over the day today. The weather was foggy then clear then foggy again.
I find long distant trips a bit frustrating as far as photography goes. On the motorway there is no chance to stop or go back. So any possible photographs are lost never to be taken. In the early part of todays trip I saw some wonderful trees in the fog.

Images from the commute
A couple of images from my daily commute. The first are of the wonderful cast iron brackets that support the roof of Gravesend station. The second is of the snow that greeted me after I left work today.

Faces in the crowds
This will be the last of my posts from last weekend in London. There was a lot of things going on with parades, stages etc. Even though I rarely do 'street photography' or candid work I found there were many images happening in front of my camera.
This selection is the best from what I shot.

Builders Merchants
After I finished the work I was supposed to be doing today I had a few moments to shoot some abstract graphic shots in my clients yard.

British Museum
On Sunday I dropped into the British Museum. In the Great Room was a sculpture presented as part of the Hajj exhibition. Rows of black granite, with arabic script on it.
