Jordan Day 5 delayed Blogging

First thing in the morning we had a visit to Little Petra. The site of some of the oldest man made structures in the world and a visit to cleft in the rocks that was used as a 'hotel' for camel caravans.

Then it was a drive south to Wadi Rum. the landscape was very impressive.  we had a stop at the train station, a drive across the desert in a 4x4 to see ancient rock art, then a ride on a camel and a traditionally cooked meal followed by some time out in the desert at night.

Jordan Day 4 delayed Blogging

Day 4 was a "free" day in Petra.

We had an early breakfast and then walked back down to the site.  Thew day was cooler , less windy and much quieter than the day before, so all in all a much nicer experience. we walked all the way up to the Monastery site which is about 800 steps and a climb of over 600'.

That evening we went back down to the Treasury for Petra by Night. A bit of a scrum but glad we did it.

Jordan Day 3 delayed Blogging

Day 3 of our Jordan trip had us at Petra. In many ways this was the jewel of the trip we wanted to see.

This the first day proved to be a slight disappointment, Very busy as it was still part of Eid holiday, and also very hot and windy with strong dust storms in the afternoon.

But still there was a feeling of magic to the place.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
