Going through old pictures and found this image of an old lady looking into the flames of a memorial to the "Great Patriotic War"which is how the USSR named WW2 it was probably taken in Bukhara. In what is now Uzbekistan.
Original is a very dark Kodachrome transparency holding detail in the flames but the lady is very dark. After a tweak in photoshop and conversion to Black and White plus adding some Noise (grain) the image looks not bad.
