Winter Solstice

 its the winter solstice today and the weather is dismal. unlike yesterday when I got out and raked all the leaves of my lawn.

 A quick wander around Gravesend before a trip to the Compass.

Home Again

The trip away was great fun although I did less photography than I hoped. 


Anyway back to Kent and today I had a bit of time to go out and take some pictures. I revisited the old fish ponds that I visit regularly. The season is a bit 'slow' for images The spring growth has long gone. There is no summer colour, and the colours of autumn are still some time away. 


What did show well was the reflections in the ponds and some leaves.

Late Afternoon Hosta leaves.

A wonderful late afternoon sun was backlighting the Hosta that sits in a pot at the back of the house.

Another frosty morning today.

Turkey Oak Leaves

I had some leaves from a Turkey Oak waiting to be photographed. I loved the very deep 'fingers' in these leaves.

Bedgebury Pinetum

Had a trip down to Bedgebury Pinetum. An amazing place which has the largest collection of pine trees in the world. Sadly the weather did not oblige and the forecast sun was nowhere to be found. So more close ups were the order of the day
