Sunset Hog weed

After work there was a short opportunity to get out and get some images.

For once there was a blazing sunset.

Burnt out car

There was a burnt out car at the bottom of our road today. Not something that we see everyday.
It did give the chance to get some interesting images of rusting metal.

Epson printers

Today I had a chance to have lunch and talk with an old friend. It has been some time since we had the opportunity to meet, so the conversation covered many areas.

What I was interested in was a new Epson printer he had purchased since I last saw him. He had bought an Epson 3800 The results that I saw were wonderful. It prints to the size I am thinking about, and the only problems with it that I can see are that it is sheet fed only, so no roll paper, and the cartridge size is 80 ml. There are 9 ink cartridges per load and they are about £45 per cart.

If I move up a printer to the Epson 4880 I would have the same print quality plus the ability to use roll media, and 220 ml cartridge at £70 per cart, it is also 9 cartridges for a full set.

The machine is larger, heavier and more expensive but cheaper to run.

I suspect that I will need to do some more research before I have an answer.

Slate Background

There is a piece of slate that has been sitting in my garage for many years. After it had been brought out and give a good clean I found that I had given one side a coat of clear varnish at some time in the past.

The other side has got rather scratched so for this shot I used the varnished side.

The bent sheet of metal.

Found the sheet of bent metal on the way into work.
It looks interesting, but will need some time.

Teasel seed head

Riding my bike to work today, gave me some time to look and think about things to photograph. I saw what looked like an amazing piece of bent metal on the way into work and made a mental note to collect it on the way back. Only problem is I could not find it. Perhaps I miss remembered where it was.

Anyway there should be a chance again on Saturday, this time I will stop and collect on my way into work.

What also caught my eye was the amount of Teasel heads Collected one and will do some work on it over the weekend. For starters a quick image now.

If you are not taking pictures, can you call yourself a photographer?

So to prove I am still a photographer.

This is where things are now.

Where to go now?

A diversified set of income streams are needed!

At the moment commissioned work and speculative stock images, make up my photography income. I have a great many images that I have taken over the past few years which are not the sort of images that are suitable for licensing through a stock portal such as Alamy.

The question is how to produce a profitable income stream.

Some of the possible options are, in no particular order.

Print sales via the web.
Self publishing of cards either for direct sales or through retail outlets.
Art/Craft fair, selling prints and cards direct.

It is possible that these will act as a form of marketing for commissioned work, and for stock images.

The time now is to start investigating any and all options.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
