Poppy Heads

The poppy head is from the garden and the background is an old table top made from untreated wood that has weathered into a wonderful rough background.

"They took my Kodachrome away!"

Although I have not shot a roll of film in nearly ten years, I still have a fond memory of Kodachrome. From the first slide films I ever shot in 1970 on an Instamatic through my time at school and then at college Kodachrome was always the film of choice for my personal work.
When I started commercial photography Kodachrome with its one or two week turnaround was never used much, deadlines dictated that Ektachrome slide film processed at any number of labs, and ready to deliver in about 2 hours was the main film for everyday use. Even then I still shot Kodachrome when I could in 1987 I had about 70 rolls in my luggage for a trip around the soviet union one of these slides Samerkand is still my best selling image on Alamy, with about a dozen sales a year.

So it is with a slight sense of loss that I read that the last roll of Kodachrome of the production line has now been shot and processed. Via AP
The process line will still be running until December but after that Kodachrome will just be a memory. All be it, a  memory that is very slow to fade!

The image of the day is of the Echinops that is about to bloom in the garden.

Sunset

My attempt at a more regular post has failed so far.

My excuse is that I have a new laptop and have spent a good amount of my spare time getting it configured as I want it.

That is now done so apart from a couple of new cables and a test of the email out on location it is ready to roll.

The picture today is from my studio window looking west towards the sunset.

Elephant Parade

There is in London at the moment a wonderful outdoor art installation called the Elephant Parade. About two hundred and fifty model elephants, each painted or decorated by a different artist, are installed across the centre of London. http://www.elephantparadelondon.org/  We had a look at a few of them and hopefully will have another visit next week.

Albion Wharf revisited

The weather today was fantastic with not a cloud in the sky from dawn till dusk. In the afternoon I had a trip across London to finish the work I started last week. The light was great and I got the images that I was looking for. I also had some time to do some blog images.

Late Afternoon Hosta leaves.

A wonderful late afternoon sun was backlighting the Hosta that sits in a pot at the back of the house.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
