Fall Colours

Traveling through New England in the fall is on my list of things that I wanted to do.

The views have been spectacular, just wish we had the time to stop.

Chicago O'Hara

7am flight out of Chicago.

The cold has arrived. The air temperature has dropped by 30 deg Fahrenheit over 24 hours.

Good news is that the clear air has moved in and visibility is great. the queues for the Sears/Willis tower were 2:30 hours so it was given a miss. The boat tour around the rivers was a great trip with a very knowledgeable guide.

On the Road

Three days on the road across Illinois and Indiana. 

We all have a 'memory' of the USA embedded from countless films, TV shows and adverts. What is surprising is how the USA delivers on these 'memories'.

Endless roads running straight as an arrow across rich farmland, with fields filled with corn as high as an elephants eye! with churches on every corner.

In small towns trucks and cars stop at traffic lights that you only find in the USA.

Then there are the trains, tracks running through towns so that the locals can be from the wrong side of the tracks and the sound of train whistles blowing in the distance.

Plastic Cow

Expecting to see a muffler man on my road trip but all I've seen so far is a cow.

Five hours of driving south deep into Illinois.

Clandon Park

The last time I posted pictures from Clandon house was in 2011 and never visited after the fife in 2015 which destroyed the interior of the house.

Today I visited and had a look around the gutted shell of the house.

In The Red Again

Lightship 21 moored on Gravesend waterfront.

Shorne Again

Another sunny evening and a walk around Shorne Woods. Main reason was to carry a full bag of cameras that I'm using next week. Testing the bag to see if it is still solid enough and not going to fail.
