Day 4 was a "free" day in Petra.
We had an early breakfast and then walked back down to the site. Thew day was cooler , less windy and much quieter than the day before, so all in all a much nicer experience. we walked all the way up to the Monastery site which is about 800 steps and a climb of over 600'.
That evening we went back down to the Treasury for Petra by Night. A bit of a scrum but glad we did it.
Day 3 of our Jordan trip had us at Petra. In many ways this was the jewel of the trip we wanted to see.
This the first day proved to be a slight disappointment, Very busy as it was still part of Eid holiday, and also very hot and windy with strong dust storms in the afternoon.
But still there was a feeling of magic to the place.
Day two of the trip to Jordan had an early start from Amman. The first stop was at Mount Nebo and a look out over "the promised land".
On to Madaba to see the mosaic map of the Holy land in the church of St George.
The final stop was to explore the crusader castle at Karak
The final part of the day was a drive through the spectacular scenery along the King's Highway to Petra.
I'm just back from a week long trip to Jordan.
This is the first day of our trip. We had arrived just after midnight on 1st of May and after a short sleep we were on the road to the roman town of Jerash.
The town is the largest Roman sight in Jordan and is entered by the imposing Hadrian's Arch. There is an amphitheatre and temples, hippodrome, walls, colours and streets dotted throughout the site, the majority of which has not yet been excavated.
After Jerash we returned to Amman to explore The Citadel and another roman amphitheatre. Before having a meal ion the centre of town. An amazing experience as it was the last day of Ramadan so everywhere was incredibly busy.
