Down on Ayrshire coast between Ayr and Culzean is the little fishing village of Dunure.
When my father was alive it was one of his favourite places to visit. So as a memorial to him we always try and stop if we are near.
Today I took mum out for a drive and we ended up stopping by the harbour for half an hour.
While looking around the castle I read about its history. Quite interesting story including the roasting of the abbot!
Also digging through my files I found an image from the mid 70's today's shot is not from the same spot but its close.

Swimming and Walking
Weather was very wet in the morning, but swimming in an outdoor pool is wet anyway so rain was adding nothing extra. Later the sun came out and a walk was in order.

Rainbow over the Clyde.
Weather in Scotland is on the mixed side, and with spending time with my mother I'm just trying to get a few pictures when I can.
Today was a shopping trip, fuel for the car and then a drive to see the view from Greenock Esplanade.
There was a hint of autumn storms in the air.

Sunderland
I'm always interested in roads that aren't always roads.
Looking at maps I came across the village of Sunderland. Situated on the edge of Morcambe Bay where the river Lune meets the sea. The road to the village is 1.25 miles across salt flats. You have to be careful of the tides as the road is flooded at high tide.
Luckily the tide was out so I was able to drive and have a quick look around.

Charlecote Park
Travelling north today for an overnight stay in Wolverhampton.
Ended up stopping at Charlecote Park near Stratford on Avon.
Never visited this house before so decided it was good to go on my first solo visit.

Walls
Walked my son Nicholas to the station this morning, for him to catch the train home.
Just shots of walls as a theme today.

Old Trees
Not the best day I've had for awhile, very hard to get going and no motivation.
After a morning not doing much I took a walk out to the local Nature reserve at Shorne Woods.
It was very busy with lots of children, as this will be about the last weekend of the summer holidays. Autumn term starting soon. That said a short walk out the back of the bark and you are away from the crowds. On the slopes there are a few old skeletons of trees. Some damaged in the great storm of 1987, some damaged by a big fire a few years later.
They stand like ghosts, their bare arms spreading across the sky, their trunks, stripped of bark showing all the lines a whorls normally hidden in a living tree.
