Turkey Oak Leaves

I had some leaves from a Turkey Oak waiting to be photographed. I loved the very deep 'fingers' in these leaves.

Rain on Leylandi

The rain overnight had left a wonderful set of drops on the Leylandi bush at the back of our house.

Paper in Black and White

The same to images but in B&W

Paper

One of the speakers at the Sevenoakes art group on Tuesday had been working with paper, and gave a bit of an insight into her work. This is nothing like what she was doing, but is still just paper.

Anish Kapoor at the Royal Academy

For my day off I had a trip up to London to see the Anish Kapoor show at the Royal Academy, and a very impressive show it was. The work 'Shooting into the Corner' was interesting, 'Svayambh' was fun, but speculation on how it was done got in the way of the piece.

The Highlight for me was the room with the mirror polished stainless steel I spent ages just moving slightly just to see how things changed in the reflections.

From the weekend.

After a day in work I was out to the the art group meeting in Sevenoakes. Two interesting speakers plus the submission of the form for the selling exhibition.

This has left very little time for shooting today, so a picture from the weekend is called for.

I had a visit to a favourite site that will soon be gone. The old cement silos at the Blue Circle site at Northfleet are in the final stages of demolition. Two have gone with the rest gone over the next few days. I also had a look out over the rest of the site but all that is left are the long rotary ovens and the two chimneys that have dominated the are for so many years.

Shell on Driftwood

Over the past few week I have been collecting 'things' to be used as props in photographs. The aim being to give me the chance to create images in the dark nights of winter.

One find was a wonderful piece of wood bored out by Toledo Worms. I found it on the beach at Bawley Bay in Gravesend, and it has been drying out for the past month, after a good cleaning.

These images are the first I have made with this piece of wood.

Gravesend river front.

Much of the river front at Gravesend has been redeveloped for housing or business. But there is still a small area behind the Imperial Business park that has not been redeveloped. The old oil tanks still sit there waiting for demolition. While they slowly decay.

Fireworks over Gravesend

There was a large firework display in town tonight. So I took a chance and found an angle where the fireworks silhouetted the new Sikh temple.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
